Vai Dom by Diana L. Paxson is the first story in The Keeper's Price and other stories (1980). In her introduction to the story, Marion Zimmer Bradley writes that it "comes first in this collection [...] because it is, chronologically, the earliest in recorded Darkovan history, coming only a few generations after Darkover Landfall."[1] Vai Dom addresses "the problem of how a colony founded by citizens of a technological, democratic society so quickly became, on Darkover, medieval and feudal."[1]
