The Alton Gift is a short story by Elisabeth Waters published in The Keeper's Price and other stories (1980). It is set during the Ages of Chaos.
Marion Zimmer Bradley wrote "I personally think that "The Alton Gift" is yet to be surpassed in any of these volumes. I'm not so sure that it is surpassed by any of my own work."[1] in the introduction to Sin Catenas, also by Elisabeth Waters, in the 1988 anthology Four Moons of Darkover.
